Extremely interesting. If you're looking for a better understanding and picture of the greatest writer who ever lived, be sure to read this book. Cool personal facts about the God Bukowski, told from the knowledgable and discerning eyes of Linda King. He went five days without eating while writing Post Office. "I've been involved, and food didn't occur to me" or something like that. In both Linda's and Cupcakes' (Scarlet) memoirs, the first time Buk visited each of these eventual girlfriends... he wore a new flashy shirt that he just bought. And blushed when linda/cupcakes commented on it. The Great Lover eh! And he'll french kiss a high school boy just to introduce some madness in a "nation of subnormals" (words from Zen Wedding short story) who sit perfectly and do everything so correctly.Linda's telling of her memoir is itself fascinating. I enjoyed her style very much... it's a unique style because her experiences and view of the world are quite unique. And as a writer herself she really sees a lot and is able to explain much of the wildness and madness of the world. And what an intense spirit...
I would really like to read more by Linda and get a copy of Mad Ouija but don't know how to get it. Is Linda still alive?

Loving and Hating Charles Bukowski edition by Linda King Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The views of Linda King on her life with Charles Bukowski reflect at least in part some of his poems.
Stylistically, King's editors should have overridden her apparent insistence to "print it like she writes". It's easy to see why Bukowski mocked her writing skills.
The book appears to be a partial self-reflection, a criticism of Bukowski's life, not his poetry, and leaves the reader with a fragmented account of their lives together, and a sense that for all her criticism of Bukowski's personality flaws, her own appear nearly as openly
I was happy to finally reach the end of this torpid tome.
Although there are problems a good editor could have solved, leaving the author's story in her own words and style lends an authenticity to the relationships, personalities, and memories. The title, unless you are a diehard Bukowski fan, is descriptive of how many people feel, especially after reading this book, about this troubled genius.

One of Bukowski's most legendary women, featured in his book Women" gives her own view of their relationship with no holds barred. If you are shocked by a woman speaking as candidly about her sex life as Bukowski does about his, maybe you should look elsewhere!
I love Bukowski and everything that reminds me of him. So even though this book isn't as great as he is, I liked it. There are things to change and improve but I had fun, and that's what I hope for when I read a book.
Very interesting, warm but also clear-eyed look at the private Bukowski, I only wish Linda King had written more about their relationship.
I am a die hard Bukowski fan. This book , to me, was just Linda King trying to get her rather dull poetry out there.
